Top 3 Best Brands On Social Media 2019: Who Is Killing It?

Fanbytes have helped...

So, you want to win on social media?

Then listen up.

We know how hard it can be to keep up with every brand pioneering on social media and how easy it is to miss something. Fortunately, we’ve always got our eyes peeled so that we never have to miss a beat. We’ve made a note of the top 3 best brands on social media 2019, what they’re doing well, and how other brands can replicate the same success.

Three stand-out examples are Spotify, ASOS & MyProtein who have all upped their social media game. They have transformed their tactics into strategy, and we are all waiting in anticipation for what they’re going to do next.

If you want to explode on social media, take some inspiration from these guys…

1. Spotify

Something that you have probably already chatted about amongst your peers (cos, I definitely have) is Spotify’s ‘Wrapped’ – a cool feature of the app which allows you to take a detailed look at what new music you discovered, as well as your favourite artists and songs of 2019.

Typically, those who have conversations about Spotify are regular users of the app, right? But what Spotify succeeded in doing, by use of social media, is getting their brand in the mouths of even Apple Music users. (guilty.)

Why are they smashing it?

They created vibrant and interesting content that is perfect for sharing on social media. We all love to share things that give others a glimpse into who we are, especially if there is a little friendly competition involved over the numbers. It has become so popular that people have even started to make jokes about it on social media (see examples below).

As Spotify users started sharing their results on Instagram, Twitter, and even Snapchat, other people started to take notice and wanted to join in on the conversation. So, not only have they succeeded in become the most talked about brand right now, but they have drawn new users to their app.

I, an apple music user, even signed into my Spotify account to find out my results because I wanted to be involved in the hype and I haven’t stopped listening since!

How can you replicate this?

The trick is to create content that is shareable and that will trigger ‘fomo’ (fear of missing out) in people if they do not get involved. This list was great because it not only tells us something about ourselves that we didn’t know before but it also encourages a conversation as we are naturally curious to see what others received.

2. ASOS

ASOS, Britain’s favourite fashion and cosmetic retailer, has always respected the importance of using modern marketing practices to construct an epic brand identity. But they’ve definitely outdone themselves here.

ASOS Insiders is a marketing device conceived to give users more personalised experience. The insiders are a group of young influencers from all over the world that share everything from styling advice to beauty tips.

They all have their own Instagram account which they use to sport their own personal styles using ASOS products. Their followers are able to keep up with these posts and easily access the products they are wearing through product codes highlighted in their descriptions.

Why are they smashing it?

It has been found that a whopping 92% of consumers trust influencer recommendations over celebrity endorsements. ASOS’s decision to use style and beauty micro-influencers with smaller followings but higher engagement is a response to that. Instead of feeling like they’re being sold something by a cheesy celebrity commercial, they feel like they are gaining clothing or beauty inspiration from a friend or somebody who is more trustworthy and authentic.

How can you replicate this?

Micro-influencers drive 7x more engagement than macro-influencers in marketing campaigns. For brands using influencer marketing to appeal to Gen Z, a generation who places massive emphasis on authenticity, we suggest using micro-influencers to keep up with Gen Z consumer behaviour.

3. MyProtein

MyProtein is a leading sports nutrition brand but they haven’t been renowned for their super creative social media marketing campaigns. Until now.

Unlike their competitors who have gotten comfortable using traditional influencer marketing practices, MyProtein knew that they needed to get creative and innovative to make waves and steal the hearts of Gen Z.

And that’s exactly what we helped them do.

Using our award winning influencer platform, we were able to find the relevant influencers for the campaign and launch a TikTok activation. Our influencers created a duet chain reacting to what they can achieve after their MyProtein pre-workout shake.

What they achieved exceeded even our expectations. They drove over 980k hashtag views, and a massive 14.78% engagement rate!

Why are they smashing it?

Tiktok is the app to beat. Being the most downloaded app in 2019 and frequently referred to as ‘Gen Z’s favourite platform’, it is gold-dust for brands looking to win the hearts of young people. MyProtein has been successful at tapping into all of its magic.

For a brand to be successful on TikTok, content needs to have compelling visual elements, incorporate comedy, and enable users to “show off” to some degree. MyProtein’s influencer videos incorporate all three of these aspects and have received 980k views as a result!

How can you replicate this?

If you want to achieve similar results, you need to start taking notice of TikTok and its marketing potential. Study the user behaviour on the platform and start thinking about how you can create content that will be favoured by its algorithm. TikTok’s conventions differ drastically from other social media platforms as content is rewarded for being authentic, raw, and somewhat ‘messy’ in comparison to the picture-perfect, aesthetically-pleasing reality that other social media platforms promote. If your brand can come across as real, likeable and relatable in your content, be prepared to explode on the app.

These brands have the right idea...

Now that we’ve revealed our top 3 best brands on social media 2019, you’ve probably noticed a few trends amongst them.
