Time and time again, we’ve seen brands making the SAME mistakes on TikTok and these are what’s holding them back from taking it from mere view generation to truly engaging users and officially dominating. We’ve activated over a hundred of TikTok campaigns with the likes of Warner, Burger King & MyProtein and have discovered the hottest 3 hacks on TikTok right now for any brand with ‘master TikTok and go viral’ on their to-do list.
1. Drive Millions Of Views With Text-Based Memes
The reason for that is simple – memes dominate the social media world. It is currently the most popular format on TikTok, and text-based videos are the most popular of the lot.
We utilised text memes in our recent influencer activation for Benny Blanco & Juice WRLD to release their new song ‘Graduation’. Our influencers created them to demonstrate their transition from one school year to another, including graduating as the final transition.
We amassed a HUGE 6M VIEWS, around 1M HEARTS, and OVER 200K+ PIECES OF USER-GENERATED CONTENT.
2. Behind The Scenes Content Will Drive 10x More Engagement
TikTok sets itself apart from other social platforms. Instead of pretty and put-together, users on the platform demand authenticity and rawness. This is where ‘behind the scenes’ style content comes into play. Instead of intrusive ad posting, BTS content allows users to meet face to face with a brands personality, alternatively to an online persona designed exclusively to sell.
We put this to action in a campaign we ran with ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). Our influencers created content in accountancy firms to show the real life of an accountant and the content produced helped us turn stereotypes from this: “dull, boring, elitist & exclusive” into this: “exciting, impactful & relevant” and as a result garnered OVER 1M VIEWS, and OVER 100,000 HEARTS.
3. Duet Chains Are Key To Unlocking Exclusive Communities
If you are trying to go absolutely viral on the platform, one of your best bets is a duet chain; side by side videos where people can mimic or complete actions taken by other fans. The reason for this is simple: fans can create never-ending chains of content and in the process, reach the top of the trending page and ultimate brand recognition on the platform.
We learnt this lesson when activating a campaign for MyProtein. Influencers were sent MyProtein merch and asked to show the super-human benefits of a MyProtein pre-workout shake before passing the drink through the screen for other influencers to join in. We tied this campaign together with a custom original sound and the #myproteinchallenge hashtag. In doing so, we managed to generate 1.6m views, unlock influencers fan communities by gaining hundreds of positive fan engagement, and effectively raised their brand profile on TikTok.
