With consumer behaviour constantly changing, music marketers have to work extra hard to keep up with upcoming trends and platforms to engage their target demographic. If only there was a way to reach their audience via a party that has already made those connections and has built a sense of trust and loyalty with your audience?
This is the beauty of music influencer marketing. Using influencers to promote your music is the perfect way to generate engaged views, rather than spending valuable time creating ads that fail to engage your audience.
TikTok is a platform that has been recognised by plenty of big brands for its marketing potential, especially when marketing music on the platform. It was the most downloaded app in Apple in Q1 2019 and is frequently recognised as being the biggest music discovery platform. Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’ and Anne-Marie’s ‘Friends’ are amongst the many songs that blew up because of TikTok, so, if you want to achieve the same, TikTok is the place to be!
We’re here to help – if you are keen to get started on TikTok, here’s our music influencer marketing guide, full with everything you will need to know to go viral on Gen Z’s favourite platform.
1. Using Duet Chains
Duet chains is a lifesaving tool for anybody looking to promote a song on the platform. They allow users to create a ‘side-by-side’ video with other users where they imitate or remake the actions of other users. The best thing about this tool is that they create an unlimited chain of content which plays a massive role in helping your song go viral.
An example of this done well comes from a campaign that we ran with Decca Records to promote Aurora’s new song ‘The River’. We decided to start the #YouCanCryChallenge using the duet chain feature which involved having our influencers showing their emotions in relation to a personal issue or insecurity and then joining hands in solidarity of mental health awareness.
The results after only a few days were astonishing. We went viral after appearing on the ‘For You’ page and our influencers saw a total of 649.4k views.
We talk more about how to replicate this success in our in-depth music influencer marketing TikTok guide where we discuss 3 hacks to going viral on TikTok. Fill in the form below to gain access to our guide and find out how to crack the code today.
2. Using Boom Moments
‘Boom Moments’ is a term coined by Fanbytes meaning a 3-5 second clip that should engage users with content within that time frame. From experience, we have found that the best way do this is by using short and sharp transitions which coincide with moments in the song. These transitions enable you to tell a detailed story in a short period of time. We were able to accomplish this on our campaign with Petit Biscuit where we gained vitality and 4.5m hashtag views.
