Businesses must be careful when using songs as they must comply with copyright. As a business account on TikTok, you can use TikTok commercial sounds. We have the full breakdown of these and how you can use them in this article: TikTok Commercial Sounds: How Brands Can Use Sound

TikTok trending sounds cover more than trendy songs though. Voiceovers, quotes, sound snippets, sound effects and more can trend on TikTok, as can other forms of music. TikTok’s slogan is famously “trends start here”. It’s a vastly growing platform (1 billion active users and counting) with more viral sounds every day. Utilising these will help you create fresh, exciting TikTok videos – and if you get it right, you can unlock killer brand awareness.

88% of TikTok users say sound is essential to the TikTok experience. But how do you find the right sounds for your content? In this article, we tell you how to find trending sounds on TikTok, what to look out for, some of the top TikTok trending sounds right now, and brilliant tips to show you how to make the most of them.

Sound good? Headphones in, let’s go.

How to find trending sounds on TikTok

There are several easy ways to find the right trending sounds on TikTok. Whether it’s the latest Harry Styles track, or a funny quote from a Tiktok content creator that went viral, there’s a whole world of trending audios to discover. We’ve listed the best sources for finding trending TikTok sounds and how you can use these.

1. Browse the For You Page (FYP)

A great way to find trending sounds on TikTok is by scrolling through TikTok itself. The For You Page is where you’ll find popular videos curated for you and your interests. On the TikTok app, you’ll find your FYP on “Home” on the bottom left-hand side. At the top, you’ll see the tab “For You”. As you scroll, you’ll start noticing patterns and sounds coming up repeatedly.

These are the sounds you’re looking for. Keep an eye out for these trends and use them for your own account.

How can you get it right?

The first step is optimising your FYP. TikTok is all about content niches, so you must engage with accounts talking about similar things to you. This is how the TikTok algorithm learns what content is relevant to you, and where to share your own TikTok content.

When you find a sound that appears to be trending in your niche, you can tap on the sound link at the bottom of the video and it will take you to a page where it shows you the videos made using that sound. The original sound should be at the top left.

TikTok personal accounts can use any trending TikTok songs or audio on the app, as the platform has secured rights to use even mainstream music anywhere on the app for non-promotional purposes.

TikTok allows business accounts to use original user audio. When they updated their rules for commercial accounts, they stated: “While your account will not have access to the full music library anymore, you should still have access to user uploaded sounds.”

So, if the original sound is not under any copyright laws, you should be able to use it. Don’t worry; TikTok will warn you if the song is copyrighted and will block it from use.

2. Browse the TikTok Commercial Library

As a business account, the TikTok Commercial Library should be your go-to for your TikTok marketing strategy. It’s where brands can find royalty-free, non-copyrighted sounds for their videos. It’s full of different genres and topics, so there should be something to suit any content you create. Because it’s in-app, these tracks can still trend, meaning you can get an extra boost from the TikTok algorithm.

How can you get it right?

When you upload or create a video on TikTok, you can tap the “add sound” icon. When you have a business account on the app, it will automatically take you to the Commercial Sounds Library. Here you can see different playlists full of free-to-use sounds.

One of the playlists brands should use the most is the “TikTop” playlist. This has tons of viral sounds and popular audio that you can use without worry.

We wrote at length about this in our TikTok commercial sounds and how to use them’ article, so check this out for more tips on how to use commercially available sounds on TikTok to unlock huge growth.

3. Use TikTok’s Creative Centre

If you’re looking for the top sounds on this video-first social media app, TikTok themselves want to help you do it. They have created the Creative Centre where you can go to see the top performing sounds on the app. They break down the analytics so you can see exactly what you’re getting (whether a trend is on the rise, at its peak or starting to slow down).

How can you get it right?

When you look at the TikTok Creative Centre, you will see a page dedicated to finding trends. You need to log in to access all the data here; it’s free for business accounts on TikTok to do so.

TikTok makes it easy for you to find sounds as they add a notification that states “cleared for businesses to use on TikTok”. You can filter by region to find catchy sounds your target audience are enjoying at the moment. When you click on a sound, you can see a graph showing you the interest it has had over time.

INSIDER TIP: If you want to grow fast, choose sounds that are on the rise. This is a great way to ride the wave of a trending sound’s popularity, without getting lost in the noise.

4. Look at Spotify

We’ve noticed a new user journey emerging from Gen Zers: they’ll discover a new song on TikTok, and head straight to Spotify to stream it. The close relationship between TikTok and Spotify is evidenced in the companies’ dealings: the two recently launched a joint premium offer. According to Bloomberg, Spotify “has long seen TikTok as a friend and a funnel”.

As such, you’ll see plenty of Spotify playlists filled to the brim with popular TikTok songs. Search for “TikTok Sounds”, “TikTok Hits” or “TikTok Music” to find some of the most popular. Note their names and find them on the TikTok app.

How can you get it right?

The trouble with finding sounds this way is that they tend to have more copyright hoops to jump through. After all, many of the most popular TikTok songs will be from global artists like Taylor Swift, or even throwback hits like Kate Bush’s A Deal with God. If you find the perfect sound for your campaign and want to use it on your business profile, you’ll need to contact the owner/publisher for permission.

Of course, if you work with us, we do that for you. Our dedicated music team has contacts in all the relevant labels, and knows everything there is to know on TikTok trending sounds and how to get access to them.

5. Use the search bar

Using TikTok’s search bar is an effective way to find trending sounds. Simply type in keywords like “viral”, “trend”, or “trending” and scroll through the results. Many hashtag trends also come with their own sound accompanying them. The more you hear a particular sound, the more likely it is to be trending

How can you get it right?

Similar to when you’re browsing the FYP, you’ll need to find the original user audio. Make sure there are no warnings about copyright when you do, and you’ll be good to go.

6. Ask the experts!

We know how important jumping on trends is for growing on TikTok, so we built our own in-house social listening tools to help identify this key information early on, before everyone else joins in. TikTok’s UI always shows the best-performing videos at the top of any given trend, so by being faster than everyone else, you can benefit from those extra views and stay on top of the trend page, meaning you can ride the wave of any viral sound trend.

At any one time, we can tell you which TikTok sounds are gathering momentum, and which sounds are particularly popular within your niche, so you can reach your ideal audience.

Examples of TikTok trending sounds 2022

At any one time, we can see exactly what’s trending on tikTok. So what are some of the top TikTok Trending sounds in summer 2022? Here are 3 examples of the latest trending audio on the app.

1. Beat Automotivo Tan Tan Tan Viral - WZ Beat

This is one of the most popular audios in the TikTok Creative Centre. With a 99% peak viewership rating, it’s a new trend that brands should jump on. In fact, Bytesights shows it’s grown by 90% in one week recently. The best part? It’s cleared for businesses to use, so there are no worries about ownership or copyright.

What’s the trend?

Creators use this sound to “knock” on a door or wall and then create a transition to show a different side to them. Usually a “cool” secondary personality. It’s a fun trend that Gen Z are clearly into, so think how your brand could use it.

2. Feel the Groove - Queens Road, Fabian Graetz

This audio is a firm favourite among brands and is still popular, with over 2.5 million TikTok videos using the sound. Because it’s music-based with no lyrics, there is more flexibility for business accounts to do what they want with it. Bytesights shows that while 44% of creators using the sound are English speakers, it’s also particularly popular with Spanish, French and Portuguese speakers.

What’s the trend?

The trend is just about pairing an upbeat video about your brand with this music. Sometimes, creators talk over the music, but it’s a great backing track no matter what you plan to do with your content.

3. No thanks - kuwtkclips0

The Kardashians have inadvertently been providing sound bites to TikTok for a while now, with their instantly recognisable voices soundtracking humorous moments and memes in the app. This sound is no different. Kourtney Kardashian’s reaction to someone asking, “can I give you a big hug?” is somewhat iconic. The simple “No Thanks” became popularised on the app as TikTokers film their own deadpan reactions.

What’s the trend?

TikTokers have started creating videos with this sound in relatable situations. The trick is creating something applicable to your niche. Think about what your brand ethos is and how you could use this trend to get it across.

@zoejmitchell Lol everyone likes to just pass through chaturanga 😂😅 #chaturanga #yogatutorial #chaturangatips ♬ No thanks - kuwtkclips0

4 insider tips for using trending sounds

So we’ve been through how to find them and what the top ones are; now it’s time to put trending sounds into practice. We have some top insider tips to get your videos making the most of these sounds so you can nail every brand campaign.

1. Watch other creators

Seeing how other creators use sounds will help you understand what people want to see from the trends. Influencers know their audience, so follow people within your niche and see what content they are putting out. You may find that certain sounds lend themselves to your industry better than others. Keep an eye out and take inspiration from the successes.

2. Stay true to your brand

There is no use jumping on a trend if it just won’t work for your brand. So don’t try to do everything. TikTokers crave authenticity, and you want to show off your brand honestly and truthfully. Make sure you are using sounds that apply to you.

3. Create your own trend

Creating your own audio is always an option. With the right ingredients, you may just start a trend. You could ask users questions to promote user-generated content. You could bring out your own musical tracks by collaborating with artists. You could use humour to make a relatable sound that people will want to lip sync too. The possibilities are endless, but whatever you do, make the content entertaining, clear and snappy.

4. Utilise influencers

Influencers know what their audience wants to see – that’s why they’ve been able to accrue so many followers. This includes what sounds their audience wants to hear. You can take inspiration from them, but to truly access their pool of followers, you need to get working with them. Collaborating with creators is your ticket to better brand awareness and increased chance of going viral.
